Astro Richa Luthra

The use of Nakshatras is very important in Vedic Astrology. Role of Nakshatras and their Padas in Predictive Astrology is Unique to Indian Astrology.

According to the Indian Sages the Nakshatras represent the abodes into which the fruits of our KARMAS are transferred and stored. Nakshatras define the characteristics of the Planets placed in them. Vedic Astrology divided the Zodiac into 27 Nakshatras or Lunar Constellations. These Nakshatras make all the difference in Astrological calculations.

The 360 degree division of the Sky is divided into 12 Zodiac Signs and 27 Nakshatras .Each Nakshatra covers 13 degrees 20 minutes. Each Nakshatra is further divided into 4 sections called padas /quarters of 3 degrees 20 minutes. Planets give specific results according to the house, sign and Nakshatra Pada in which they are placed. Placement of the Nakshatra Lord in the horoscope also influences the results given by the Planet.

We can also correlate Jaap Mala (used for Mantra Sadhna) with Nakshatra Padas. There is a Connection between 108 beads of Jaap Mala and 108 Nakshatra Padas.

Let us understand it in a layman’s term – There are 27 Nakshatras Each Nakshatra has 4 Padas.
Thus there are 27×4= 108 Padas in Total.

It is believed that by reciting a MANTRA 108 times, We are praying for Positive Energy from Each Nakshatra Pada. In other words we can say that by Chanting a MANTRA 108 times we are praying for Positive Energy from our 9 Planets placed in 12 signs (rashis) covering 27 Nakshatras in the Zodiac.
